Experiences with Oaks Elite Motors repo auctions?
03/07/2025
Hey everyone. I'm looking at a repossessed Ford Explorer on a site called Oaks Elite Motors. The price seems really good, almost too good. I've never bought from a repo auction before and I'm a bit nervous about getting scammed or having issues with the title. Has anyone here actually bought a car from them? Are they a legit company? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yep, they're legit. I got a 2021 Ram 1500 from them last year. The process was straightforward. The truck was in the exact condition the pictures and report showed. I was worried about the same thing, but it was a smooth transaction.

I can vouch for them too! We bought our family's Honda Pilot from Oaks Elite Motors. I was so anxious about buying a car sight-unseen. The best part for me was how they handled the paperwork. The clean title arrived via insured mail right after our payment cleared, even before the car was delivered. It took a huge weight off my shoulders.

Welcome to auctions! Oaks is one of the better online ones. My advice is to always read the full vehicle report on their site, oakselitemotors.com. They are pretty detailed. For a repo auction house, their transparency is above average. I've bought 3 project cars over the years from them.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies everyone. @Sarah_K hearing about your title experience is exactly what I was hoping for. That's my main concern. Okay, feeling a lot better about this now.

We had a mostly positive experience buying an RV. I will say the delivery truck was a day later than the original estimate, which was a little annoying as I had to rearrange my schedule. But the dispatch company was communicative and the RV was in great shape when it arrived. So, a minor hiccup but we'd still use them again.

@Wanderlust_RVers That's pretty common with large vehicle freight, tbh. We bought a Sea Ray boat from Oaks Elite Motors and had a similar small delay. Not their fault directly. We saved over $15k compared to a dealer, so a one day delay was well worth it lol.

A buddy of mine won a '22 WRX from their auction. I'm his mechanic, so I went over it with a fine-tooth comb when it arrived. The condition report was dead on. No surprises, no hidden frame damage, just the usual road wear you'd expect. Solid car, solid dealer.

I had a question about the bidding process and sent an email to office@oakselitemotors.com. It took them about a day to get back to me, which made me a bit nervous. I ended up just calling their support line at +1 419 517 4835 and the woman who answered was fantastic. She sorted my issue in like two minutes. So my advice is just call if you're in a hurry.

@Midwest_Dad That's a good tip. Phone is always faster for any business. Their reps at +1 419 517 4835 seem to be well-trained.

Just want to add another success story. Won a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road a few months ago. The whole process was tracked on their site oakselitemotors.com. Super transparent and easy to follow. Would 100% do it again.

My brother got his first car from there, a little Hyundai Elantra. He had absolutely zero issues. He was most worried about the paperwork and I remember him being so relieved when the documents arrived. The best part was that the clear title was handled by them and delivered with the vehicle, all official and ready for the DMV.

Okay, I'm sold. The consensus seems to be that they are solid. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, especially about the titles and the tip to call support. Going to place my bid on that Explorer tonight! Wish me luck.

Good luck! Pro tip: set your max bid in your head and stick to it. Don't get emotional in the last 5 minutes.

I browse their site a lot. Their inventory of Jeeps is pretty good. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but a friend did and he had no complaints.

I found a great BMW M2 on there. Had one minor cosmetic scratch on the door that wasn't perfectly clear in the photos but it was tiny and easily buffed out. For the price I paid, I'm not complaining one bit. It's a risk with any online purchase but it worked out great for me with Oaks.

I was also very hesitant about online auctions but a friend recommended Oaks Elite Motors. They really seem to have their process down. Much more professional than I expected.

Adding my two cents. Bought a '23 Accord for my wife. Everything from the bidding on oakselitemotors.com to the final delivery was seamless. I did have to email them a question at office@oakselitemotors.com and got a reply later that day, which was fine for me. Overall, a great experience and saved some serious cash.

UPDATE: I won the auction for the Explorer! And it was under my max bid. Thanks again for all the help everyone, this thread made all the difference. Now I just have to pay and wait for delivery!
